Wow, I'm surprised you found this thread--it's 6 months old to the date. :)
Thanks for the info on your Madeira. I didn't realize they made basses and I'm glad yours turned out great.
I've since received my 12-string and it's not what I expected. It's a laminate acoustic and obviously lacks...
Now I wasn't just posting this to poke fun at you guys, but also to emphasize how much your sound is larger-than-life. I just envision bad attitudes, clothes, and even worse haircuts. Hahaha! But trust me when I say this is a compliment because the music really gives me that rock star vibe...
Ok, Supercreep and Incanus, you guys are gonna hate me but... This is more along the lines of what I was expecting you guys to look like. :D

Has anyone ever heard of this or tried this? Theoretically it sounds ok, but I don't see how it'd even be worth it with latency and sound quality issues. Might as well try it out since they've got a 2-week trial...
I guess so! :) Just didn't wanna take up a track if there was an easy way around it (although I hardly use up all 32 tracks so I think I'm safe... for now).
Oh, and I can't resist... Here's a related tune from a band called Starwood I found while searching the web...
Hey All,
I just got my MobilePre yesterday and I'm trying to set it up to record drums through 2 mics. Some useful info:
Drums: 3-piece with snare, hi-hat, and crash
Mic 1: Shure SM57 on snare > MobilePre Channel 1
Mic 2: M-Audio Nova > MobilePre Channel 2
MobilePre: Output is through USB...
Thanks guys, you all seem to use the same basic order to start with--drums, bass, (rhythm), etc. A bunch of my previous recordings were started all over the place and I'd have to cut-and-paste like mad to get the other tracks in sync. That's probably just one of the reasons why the production...
Here's a newb question that I never entirely figured out... What's the order of instruments (including vocals) you should follow when recording? For example, would you create a demo of rhythm and voice, and then have the drums, bass, guitar, and vocals? And how would you record a song where...
Thanks for listening guys.
Curious is a small ode to Elliott Smith, one of my favorites. The Do-do-do's are a bit off (syncopation is a bitch when you're actually trying--heh) and the vocals aren't tight... I've gotta work on breathing and making sure to keep a proper distance from the mic...
I really like the Beatles tribute. Maybe lower the levels on the backing vocals at the beginning because they seem overwhelming? I don't care much for the synthesized vox at 1:57 and 3:05 where it slides down... Sounds a little bit "processed"-y and the end breaks down as far as sounding...
Hey mandocaster, I really enjoyed the nice guitar work and the reverb sounds very natural. I don't dig the singing style--it reminds me of one of Will Ferrell's SNL sketches... Marty and his wife?--but she sings well :)
I like the lyrics... doesn't sound heretical in my opinion.
As soon as I heard the first notes, I thought Paul McCartney. And then around 2:06 it's that 70's sound. Very intimate sounding compared to your other stuff... so when's your album coming out? :)
I'm not digging the music and I'm sorry to say I can't quite appreciate the experimental part of it. It's as if Ministry stuck with their keyboard roots, but in a not so good way. ;) But what do I know?
I was listening to this thinking it's got a really big 80's feel to it... Then I was checking out your site (sorry for snooping) and now I know why. :D I like the "has been" comment... haha. Man, your production is great, but that's coming from someone who doesn't know squat about it. :/...
Hey guys, I'm working on some initial demos and I wanted to pass these by you to get some feedback. No processing or effects on these... No bassist, drummer, and very little lead guitar yet... If you've heard my songs in the past, you'll know I'm not much of a production guy. :) But I do...
Update: Well, I tried the 12AT7 which has the lower gain factor than the 12AX7. The distortion is still there so I'm positive the TubePRE is just defective. I was thinking about purchasing the M-Audio DMP3 for $150, but I've decided to pay the $50 bench fee to Presonus and get the TubePRE...
evhwanabe, it's great to see you taking feedback and working hard to make the song better. :) I'm going with version 2 as your best so far. I feel the quality has dropped off with version 3...
- rhythm isn't as tight
- solo is reduced greatly and quite a contrast between the versions...
bbbodie, thanks for the helpful tip. I've tried 2 tubes and both are from the 12AX7 family: Sovtek and Groove Tubes. But why would this distort the sound if the TubePRE originally came with a 12AX7 tube? Shouldn't it have distorted from the start?
