How Many People Are Using Cassettes Here?

Why would you ever want to record on cassette still in this day and age? I have rare recording of my band that I put up here from the eighties that was recorded live to cassette, but would never wish to record that way again.

    Overdub a hi-hat

You can overdub anything but the problems may occure because you have to replicate it in time. If you can play the hi hats in time go for it. As for vsts hi hats I would think that is a problem as you will not get the wo and flutter of a live player, it will be precise and I am taking it you...

What we produced in our twenties...

It was meant as a compliment mate, maybe lost in American/English translation...chill all is cool. Level 42 is an English Funk band from the 80s..one of our best or more commercially successful and well admired funk bands

    Making audio into midi

I am in the same position, my bass player died. No way on earth I can replicate what he did....But if you have a video I suggest you slow it down super slow to try and catch the chords. Best of luck.

    Making audio into midi

Ableton DAW is doing a free trial at the moment, that definitely converts audio to midi to a point. Better if you have stem files obviously. Give it a go. Why what are you doing? https://www.ableton.com/en/trial/

    Is a drummer a musician?

I think a lot of drummers actually write music too. Look at Phil Collins for example..especially keyboards..just a link to my mate messing around on the drums.

What we produced in our twenties...

No, it was the reverb units of the time and how they were produced. Reverb production which is a big secret is no where near what it was then, that was the point I was making. Production is an art form that evolved form the late 70s/early 80s..spawning maverick producers such as Steve Lillywhite.
