    +1 for VOX AC4TV

Yeah, those AC4TV's are fabulous sounding little amps, here's a few clips of it in action miced up with an MXL V67G: http://www.frugalguitarist.com/Sounds/Issue%2014/AC4TV2.mp3 http://www.frugalguitarist.com/Sounds/Issue%2014/AC4TV1.mp3

    Gibson under investigation

I wonder what happened with all of this? It seemed to make a bunch of waves when it happened and then silence...

    Best Of The Cheap Ribbons?

I've got an Apex 210 and while I love it for beefing up the low end on some things or for velvety vocal stuff, it's no where near crisp enough for acoustic guitar, especially finger picked stuff. However, in combination with an AT2020 to capture the shimmer it works very well but there are...

    Your Favorite bedroom practice amp?

Vox Pathfinder 15r. If you like a hint of the cranked Vox tones at bedroom volumes, a very good option. I also enjoy(ed) the Peavey Bandit, Vox AC4TV, Bugera V22, and ZT Lunchbox (though yet to have owned this one).

    Micing cabs vs. Amp Simulators

It really depends on what you're trying to achieve and the tools available to you. Sure a nice amp in a nice room with a nice mic and a nice pre is going to out perform most amp modeling software. However, if you're working on a project in a tiny room and the noise level is a concern to your...

SX STL62 & AXL Eldorado SE w/ AmpliTube Fender

Tweeds Here’s a clip of AmpliTube Fender featuring the tweed tones. The lead tone is the ’59 Bassman model, the rhythm is the ’57 Deluxe model, and the bass is the Bassman 300 model. All guitar tracks are an SX STL62 bridge pickup and the bass is the Phat Fender PBass Finger & Slap library...

    Amplitube Fender

For anyone interested, FrugalGuitarist.com has added Jeff Baker to the team and he just finished up a review of a prerelease beta version of Amplitube Fender. The review is up and we'll have clips up in a few days.

Cheapest Fender vs. Most Expensive Squire

I'm doing an import tele roundup in the current issue of FrugalGuitarist.com and one of the guitars reviewed is the Squier CV Tele. Against MIM Fender's, I'd take the CV all day. In my opinion, just a very good guitar with no mods needed.

    Tascam VLA4

Well, one died. Big bummer. Back to the shop they go. Hopefully this is an isolated case and not a sign that these are a POS...

    Any ModTrap users?

I've thought about doing something like this as well, are you planning on mounting it on a stand or to a wall? I really want something stand mountable...

    Tascam VLA4

Ok, got them. I don't have anything right now to directly compare them with sorry. Here are my high level impressions: They have excellent stereo separation. They don't quite have the high end sizzle I'd like to hear. Low end response is decent especially considering the small speaker size...

    Bass VSTI???

Whoa! That does sound pretty good!

    Bass VSTI???

On the cheap, I strongly suggest checking out Yellow Tools Independence Free. The included basses are very, very good and include a bunch of slides. Also included is a very cool acoustic "Mexican" bass. It also includes amp and mic modeling and a bunch of other effects. The drums are pretty good...
