    The SHOW OFF thread

I haven't posted on these forums in a long while, but... Here's the latest release from my solo project, Algarothsyum. For those of you who don't know, Algarothsyum is my instrumental atmospheric metal project, written in a post-apocalyptic concept and theme. I just released the one-track EP...

How Many Guitars do you own

'09 Ibanez RG7321 '01 BC Rich Platinum Beast '86 BC Rich NJ ST-III '86 BC Rich NJ Ironbird (in restoration) I also have an Ibanez RX20 that is my next project, since all that remains is the body and neck. And I have a Silvertone of some kind. I don't know anything about it. It doesn't work, but...

    Let me hear it!

I just recorded my newest acquisition (Ibanez RG7321, bone stock) last night. I recorded some riffs for some new upcoming Algarothsyum material. The new songs are nowhere near to completion yet, but I recorded some last night mainly as a tone test. I love the results! Here's what I recorded...

What Kind Of Guitar Owner Are You?

I broke the BC Rich brand loyalty chain (C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER) and bought another guitar that I've wanted for years - Ibanez RG7321 7-string. I love it! It's a basic design, which is what I wanted. Fixed bridge, thin neck profile, 5-way pickup switch. I recorded some new Algarothsyum material...

What Kind Of Guitar Owner Are You?

I'm a brand loyalist, I would say. I love me some BC Rich guitars. I own 3 right now. I'm in the middle of restoring one of them. I'll continue to buy and play BCR guitars, too. I love the way they feel and sound.

Algarothsyum - Wastelander's Epoch album update

Well, I've decided to make my debut album "Wastelander's Epoch" available to you fine folks on a 'name your price' basis. You may download and enjoy the album for free! Or if you're feeling a little generous, you may throw in a few bucks for it, which of course isn't necessary but very...

Quick note on the realistic drum tutorials...

Sorry about the lack of new lessons, folks. Things have been quite busy in the Vhyle household. We're in the midst of moving; all kinds of crap from work; blah blah blah. I know I'm probably a month behind by now, but don't worry, I haven't forgotten about you guys! Give me another few weeks...

    Question about volume level

A lot of my favorite albums have a pretty varying range of master volumes, I've noticed. For example: right now, I'm loving Veneficum's album, "In Tranquil Absurd". The master volume = loud as shit. On the other hand, Death's "Human" album (another big favorite) is pretty low in master volume...

So how good is the pitch correction

I'm kinda curious on how well it works. I don't really have a need for it since I record instrumental music, but I'm just wondering how effective it is. I suppose I could try it on a stray guitar note or something.

    Best/Favorite SOLID STATE Amp (poll)

I love some solid stateage. I vote Line 6, because I'm quite fond of my Spider II 150. My cab isn't much to be desired, though. But the direct-in from the Line 6 sounds fantastic.

Gibson says 10's are the minimum recommended string guage

I put .009s on my ST-III just to try them out again, which is a gauge I haven't played in years. And... gross. I don't like it. I'm going back to .010. They just feel too soft.

My Pearl Eliminator double pedal ....revisited.

When I had my Tama Iron Cobras, I never really messed with the angles, but I did experiment a LOT with spring tension. I primarily played lots of death metal which obviously involved double-kick, so I had the springs set pretty tight. They weren't maxed out, but they were pretty tight. It took a...
