Hello BBS. Check out my new studio and web-site. http://home.att.net/~mercenarysound I think my rates are reasonable for a newbie trying to get a start in this competitive business. I've got my first "paying client" coming in next week. Just an author who wants to record an audio book. It...

    Wiring problem - BUZZ!

I just finished my home studio and made some final connections to the audio wiring between the two rooms. The "in-wall" cable is Gepco and the wall plates are TecNec XLR-6. I've used multi-pair cable and each pair contains three wires: black, red and ground (silver w/o shielding). I've made...

My small basement studio has 18 xlr jacks, 4 headphone jacks and two 1/4" jacks. When I ordered the wallplates, I asked for a single gang plate for the 1/4" jacks but they gave me a double gang for the same price... I've got two extra 1/4" inputs. Ideas: my thought for the first two 1/4"...

    Mineral (rockwool) versus Cellulose Insulation?

My primary concern is sound isolation... keeping sound from escaping the live room. I've read density and dead-air are the two keys to isolation, but, it's my understaning "density" is most most important when trying to isolate lower freq. such as bass or drums. Is this correct? If so...

To All Design Guru's - Parallel Wall question

I've read on several sites you should avoid parallel walls when designing a studio. My studio will be located in my basement and consists of two rooms, each approx. 10'9" x 13'10" in size once finished. Both rooms will have a trey ceiling (used to hide pipes) with a height of 8'3" around...
