Playing CDs in my room
Hi John.
Sorry for the delay; lots of scoring gigs this week.
To answer your question, when I play commercial CDs in my studio, I lose a lot of the bass on them. I am almost tempted to run the CD through my EQ & boost up the bass a few notches.
That leads me to...
Huh?
Hi John.
How can that be? When I have clients over and we mix a song, we all usually agree that we have nice balance of bass/treble. When we pop the mix into another CD player, it always is the case that we hear waaaaaay too much bass in it. How can this be a sign of mastering if we all...
Hi Everyone.
After hearing my "perfect" mixes in other listening environments, I have come to realize that I tend to add way too much bass to everything. The thing is that it all sounds fine in my small home studio. This probably means that I am not getting adequate bass response from my room...
Ideas for additional cymbal samples
Wow!! Thanks for u/l some cool sounds! I am primarily interested in scoring film/TV music. If you're taking requests, the following would be great--
* Cymbal scrapes (with dimes, triangle beaters, etc)
* Taps on the dome of a cymbal
* Taps on the dome...
Thanks!
Thanks for the advice, Jaybird.
Strange that ProTools LE can't sync up via SMPTE;-- even ProTools free can lock to the SMPTE out of my MTP AV. I have locked to picture using ProTools Free on several occasions. Weird.
Yeah, I hear good things about Nuendo. I'm just a little miffed that...
Howdy Everyone.
Maybe someone out there can help me with this question.
I use a 2408 soundcard to get 24-bit audio into my computer. Love it; never had a problem with it. Lately, I've been getting a lot of film work, and have decided to invest in a Digi 001 ProTools system. I will write my...
Sweetwater
Hmmm... I've always had good experiences buying from Sweetwater. I've picked up an ESI-4000 sampler, and an MTP AV from them over the past year. Their tech support leaves a lot to be desired, but their sales folks know what they're talking about.
my 2 cents,
Sagar
XV vs 760
Hi Bill.
No external monitor support on the XV. Goes for around $2500 new, although I'm sure you can find them on eBay for less.
Cheers,
Sagar
And the verdict is...
Hi Everyone.
Thanks to those who contributed to my post. After doing some digging around, here's what I found out--
1. The XV-series not only has built-in sounds burnt in ROM, but can also import older Roland samples (like the S760), as well as Akai S1000 series via a...
Hi Gang.
Hoping you can steer me with some good advice. I remember about five years ago getting some killer orchestral sounds from a Roland S760 sampler. I was able to layer sound upon sound to create precise ensembles playing my orchestral music.
Well, time has gone by, and now I am wondering...
Hi There.
Hoping one of the great minds here can help me out.
I just picked up the MOTU MTP/AV, and am excited about finally getting picture lock going. After reading the manual (I know... =-p), I learned that the only way for me to get my vcr to slave to the my sequencer, I have to get a Midi...
What's going on?
Hi There.
While I'm no expert, I have used the MOTU MTP XT and, just recently, the MTP/AV. I've never had a serious problem. Very reliable devices.
What exactly is the problem? Maybe I can help.
Cheers,
Sagar
I'm doing mostly orchestral stuff, and am looking for an affordable sampler with great orchestral libraries available. Am using Cubase on a Mac, so the more closely integrated with digital/computer, the better.
Any recommendations? Is this a solid piece of gear??
No Continuous Controllers?? Hmmmm.........
That's a drag. That means I can't really incorporate this into my MIDI setup. Maybe it's time to price out the Lexicon MPX-500 I've been looking at...
How about MIDI control of the parameters?
Hi Guys.
Thanks for posting this question. I have a DSP-128 and have only scratched the surface of what I can do with it because I am also lacking a manual.
My question is--
I notice a MIDI port on the back of the unit. Does this mean I can control...
