So I have Cubase SL and will no longer be needing it as my computer has died. My question is, can I resell this item to someone and will it work for them. I figure as long as I give them everyhting that it came with (install disks and dongle key) it should be ok right? I only recently bought the...
so after doing some deliberating, i've decided on the 488 mkII and have found one at a local shop for a great price. only problem: no manual! if anyone is willing to make me a copy of this i will send you money for the copying and shipping fees. thanks!
so now my question is, what are the main differences between the 488 and the mkII. the ones i know of are: mkII has 4 preamps, the 488 only has 2. mkII has two xlr input, the 488 has none.
those are the only i know of. any others? can they both record 4 tracks at a time?
i'm deciding between...
okay people, opinion time. which would you suggest getting? i'm leaning towards the 488mkII because of its 8 track capability. also, whats the difference between the 488 and the 488mkII? thanks
hoping someone can help with this prob. i am using cubase sl with my apple g4 powerbook and the program starts skipping/stuttering after recording for about 15 minutes (this includes starting and stopping and recording over tracks). this ruins the recordings and makes me have to shutdown the...
First, are condenser mics better than dynamic when mic-ing amps for computer recording? and if so, why?
second, i dont really know the difference between mono and stereo. i record my drum machine in stereo since it has two outs, but what about something with only one out? should it be in mono...
So heres my problem. When i'm using Cubase SL, after a few minutes of using the program it starts to skip and get distorted when i'm recording. It ruins the recording and once it starts i basically have to stop the session, turn off the computer and wait a while. What could be the problem...
okay, so i have a 100 watt Sunn bass cabinet and my question is what is the highest wattage head i could use without blowing the cab's speakers? i know the number will be different for a tube or solid state so if anyone has any idea please help. right now i'm using a 140 watt hartke head (solid...
So i'm going to be buying a new computer soon and wanted to see if anybody had some advice as to which comp. to buy and what i need to get started recording digitally.
First: i am deciding between an apple ibook or powerbook. if i get the ibook it will have 640MB SDRAM (128MB built-in & 512MB...
heres a question for anyone who can help: i have a tascam 488mkII portastudio and recently acquired a Teac(tascam) Model 3 mixer (The mixer seems to be a few years older than the portastudio). Besides mics, these are the only two pieces of equipment i have for recording and wanted to ask if...
i know this may sound like a dumb question, but can i use a head with a higher wattage than the cabinet can handle? meaning, if my cab is 100 w, will the head only pump out as much as the cab can handle, or will a 300 w head blow out the cabs speakers? how does this work? i'm still learning how...
So i have the 488 mkII but no manual (yet), and need to know how i master/mixdown. I am gonna send the line out to an external cd burner and mixdown like that, but will also be mixing down to a cassette deck as well. can anyone tell me how this would work? better yet, what are tracks 9/10 for? i...
Anyone know anywhere online where i can download the manual for the 488 mkII? i'm willing to pay for it but would rather get it right away than wait for it in the mail!! thanks!
I'm thinking of buying the Portastudio 488mkII, and want to know if its possible to connect this to a computer or cd burner or anything thats gonna burn the mastered tracks from the 488 to CD. I've heard its possible, but a pain in the butt. Is the sound quality lost? Any help would be greatly...
