any Govt. Mule fans out there ?

Mule is the best live band out there today. But I would say that, wouldn't I? Really- if you like 70's hard rock, check them out, especially their last two albums: Deja Voodoo and High and Mighty. Great songwriting, vocals, and of course incredible guitar tones. And their live shows do get...

any Govt. Mule fans out there ?

He's still with Tower of Power. All he ever did with the Mule was record a song for the Deep End albums. Along with MANY other great bassists. The new bass player in the Mule is Andy Hess, who has played with Scofield and the Black Crowes, among others. Steve Z.

    i'm obsessed with cheap keyboards

I hear ya, I've got a couple of old Yamahas with the small keys that are actual synths- you can change the sound parameters via some sliders. Those things were fun to record with many years ago when I had my first 4-track. The hiss level was pretty atrocious but the sounds were not that bad. And...

    Sampling Question

Looking for some advice on using a sampler. What I'd like to try is using a stand-alone sampler to make some drum loops. Route my live drums sub-mix into a sampler and play for a few minutes, then make a drum track using the few measures that I actually play well. I don't use a computer to...

Best all around: Korg X50 or Roland Juno-D

Well I love my Juno-D. I went to see the NEWCARS Friday night and Greg Hawkes was using a Juno-D as his MAIN keyboard. This guy is probably a millionaire with a warehouse full of vintage synths, and there it was, a 600 dollar Juno-D front and center. He had a MiniKorg above the Juno that he...

    The Ones That Got Away

I'm mainly a guitar player, and my friends and I often discuss the great and/or valuable guitars we had in the past that we sold or traded away, and we are kicking ourselves now. Like my MINT 68 Strat that I bought when I graduated from HS in 1982. Traded it for a BC Rich Eagle. Seemed fair at...

Looking for a cheap first keyboard

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Yamaha-PSRE403-61Key-Portable-Keyboard?sku=707463 Take a look at this one for 200 bucks. Can't go wrong for that price.

    Roland Juno-d

Well I did notice that with this keyboard you can actually get two different sounds from some of the patches depending on how hard you hit the keys. There is a jazz scat vocal patch that says two different words depending on how hard you press. That is pretty cool.

    Roland Juno-d

Don't need either one. Don't even know what aftertouch is!! :)

    Roland Juno-d

Well I picked this thing up on Monday and it is a blast!! 600 + tones and a ton of effects and variable parameters to warp. It is pretty cheaply built, but like I posted, it won't go anywhere but in my studio, so it should hold up. I don't know how much more you could reasonably expect to get...

    Roland Juno-d

Hi, does anyone here own one of these? I'm going to pick one up.It will be used to sweeten tracks in my home studio. It will never be used to gig. Any real pros or cons with this one? Thanks- Steve Z.

    Underrated: Lindsey Buckingham

I don't know about under-rated, he gets a lot of respect and has sold BAZILLIONS of records. He really rocks out with the finger picking style playing. But definitely one of my favorite players.Watch the Fleetwood Mac "The Dance" DVD the two songs where he plays solo on a nylon string electric...

I Totally Rule (another Variax thread)

You're in Texas, right? Do you know Monte Montgomery? I wonder what he uses in that Alvarez for amplification? I love his tone and playing style. One of the best ever for my money. Do you consider his tone too harsh? I know it's not a real traditional acoustic sound, but he gets tons of volume...

I Totally Rule (another Variax thread)

Hey Chris- actually yer post WAS pretty funny when taken in proper context! But I was ready to battle with whoever was actin' that "high and mighty"!! And arrogant, an attorney? It's unprecedented! :) This is a cool place. I've learned a LOT over in the Analog Only forum. I'm pretty much...
