I record real drums, but my thinking is i can get one kick ass snare track hit, and then never have to stress again, I can just play and then replace the good snare over the tracked snare...

I just had the same delema...I set up a whole new wall. You gain two things, one...duh, double wall for sound proffing, two is I learned that you should never trust that the outside wall or foundation is straight...by putting up a new "inside" wall you can make sure that your 4 walls are true...
