In doing the ceiling with 3 layers (1/2 rock-sound board-3/8 rock) I'm nervous using a RC, can I run 2/4s across the ceiling joist in the same way you use RC? 2/4s into the joist and rock into the 2/4? I'm literaly kneeling at my PC with my tool belt on, I'll go work on something else and hopefully you can give me some pointers!

Mox - the aim of the RC is to stop the vibration of the sheetrock transfering through to the floor joists and thus to the upper floor. Your 2 x 4 battens would do just that.

I'd stick to the RC. ;)

Don't be nervous...I did my ceiling this weekend and the RC holds just fine. I placed the RC on 12" centers and attached 5/8" drywall 1/2"celotex and 5/8" drywall
