    Using Sound Forge

If I had a 1.5 hour minidisc recording of a live gig, say I use soundforge wave editor to sample it onto my hard disc When I come to burn it onto CDR, how can I split it up so that each song starts as a new track, rather than one long single track lasting 1.5 hours? I can do it in a rather...

    Live Stevie Cover

I had my first go at recording live. This is the outcome. The bass was put through a J station, the keys were straight off the desk, the guitar was miked with an SM58. It was a lot easier as the band used a drum track so no live drum problems. I thought it came out OK Wadayarekon?

    vocal effect

Does anyone know what the vocal effect is that is used on the Rufus and Chaka Khan tune "Tell me something good" it sounds similar to the effect used on bon jovi living on a prayer some sort of modulating filter?

    Mixing Desks

I played at a club last week. Whilst trying to set up the fucking DJ insisted on playing rave at full tilt through his piss poor sound system as a result I screwed up and thought the output of my desk had gone down (I'm not going to tell the real reason it was'nt working 'cus its too embarasing...

    New 70s Cover

I've just had a go at this one. Sounds like way too much reverb to me particularly on the guitar and the bass is a bit "clicky". Oh well... Car Wash http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=1632&alid=-1

    Time Sync

I currently use an old Fostex D80 hard disc recorder. I like it because I can record all 8 tracks at once and it was cheap, I already had a desk, some compressors and effects for live use so all in all its a reasonable compromise home recording. I have been cnsidering getting a software...

    Time Keeping?

Tell me, do any of you drummers out there practice time keeping. I now use a recorded drum machine live because I cant find a single drummer who can keep time. I'm doing well paid gigs, I've tried 7-8 different drummers who all talk a good game. Typically they speed up , slow down, cant play...

    Pk-6

Has anyone got any experience or opinions on the EMU PK-6. I need a second keyboard for live use. I dont want sequencers or anything else that comes with a Workstation. Just good sounds for brass, strings organs and some 70s sounding analogues. Wadayarekon?

    Midi Drum Editor

Does anyone know of a cheap drum editor whic I can use for Midi drum editing. I dont want to do any sampling or sample playing. All I want is to be able to edit a drum pattern graphically on my PC and play it via a keyboard. I could do this years ago with Steinberg Pro 24 so I'm sure there...

    Mini Disc live??

The band I'm in have been practicing to a set of drum tracks on DAT. For live use I intended to copy them to a Tascam mini disc player. However I'm now a bit concerned, I was in a music shop and the PA bloke said that mini discs sound 'crap' through a PA and I should use a different media...

    Mics inside Drums

I did gig over the weekend that required that the kit was mic'd. The drummer said he would mix the drums on his desk and send me a feed. The balance and seperation for live was very good I expected loads of stands and clips for the mics but he had mounted cut off 57's inside all the toms with...
