Anyone know if this mic pre (Symetrix sx202) is good for anything? It is the older grey version rather than the newer blue version.
I am buying Syteks and a UA 2-610 and wanted to know if keeping this pre for any reason made sense?
Thanks

So i have a few overhead options. What would you choose? The drummer is an excellent player rock/jazz style, Not a very heavy hitter with a fair amount of ride cymbal usage, it's a vintage 60's slingerland kit perfectly tuned etc.
My mic choices:
sm-81's (been using these mostly)
Akg 414's
Adk...
I didn't like the berringer for drums or Bass when the bass player was in the room with the drummer. I got some presonus boxes and they are much better sounding, not as flexable but better quality sound. I will be selling 2 of the berringer 4800 units very soon. They have been used 3 times...

So i am going to get some mic pres. I have been using my 32 input mackie vlz pro but just did a 50 track mix and the cumlitive effect of all those mackie pres got a bit smeared in the midrange. I am looking at a rack of 8 channels such as the True precision 8, Presonus m80, presonus digimax...
Thanks for your input Dot.
I have a broken HHB Fatman, is the compressor similar or the same as the fatman or on a higher level?
by the way anyone know why my fatman just started to smell like components burning everytime i turn it on? It won't pass signal any longer as well.
any help on either...
i might be able to get an original TL Audio c1 for approx. $500 .
What do you think? Is the mic pre good? is the compressor good?
Can the compressor be used in mastering situations?
Please advise with all feelings. I am more interested in a Great River or API mic pre but maybe i'll just buy it...
