  • Ha, ha,
yeah well you know Malta has a very good level of English, we actually offer courses there and people prefer to come there than go to England to learn it (sun is always shining and you can party a lot!). Ever since I was born I was surrounded with English. I played with english army folk's kids, watched American and English serieses on TV, read Superman and Batman comics, English books, etc. It's a mother language for me, it just comes natural, but most Maltese are that way. Even in school all lessons are in English. And then there's the music. RocknRoll is America, and I'm completely fascinated by it! I'm also a big American Football fan (New York Giants). But you'd be surprised how stiff they are here in Germany when it comes to English. At work I'm always helping everybody when they need translations, 'cos they can't stop thinking German. They're always awed because I speak German and Italian the same way, without even thinking about it. But that's all due to Malta's history. We have always been ruled by some other country and it just left its mark. We really are able to adapt to different languages. What I love about American people is they're much cooler and open than here in Germany. Here they really have to get used to you. But I guess I'm doing Ok. There's quite a good music scene in Malta though, considering its size. Many of the friends I added on myspace are Maltese bands or musicians. Do you remeber the Swiss band Krokus? The singer Marc Storace is Maltese. He's a good friend of mine, real cool guy. But I believe that It's not important where you come from as a musician. A musician from Florida once said to me musicians are one big family and that's exactly the way I feel...
Wow...those two files (the solo & the noodling) are the same exact size: 7.6mb. I'm stumped as to why one would work, but not the other. I'll have a look at it when I get home tonight.

Question: how is your english so perfect? I imagine that's common in Europe where folks are far more multilingual, but I'm blown away. I'd never imagine I'm talking to a guy in Germany who came from Malta! I'm impressed...
I'm originally from the mediterranean of Malta (about as big as your back garden....). We used to be a British colony (like the US...!)which is why we speak English so good. I just grew up with it so it kind of comes natural. First time I moved to Germany 20 years ago was to make music. I had a lot of fun, opened up for some big names (got some photos with Iron Maiden on myspace), learned a lot, but didn't earn a dime. At some point I decided to "get in line"......now I work for a German company which builds recycling machines, using my knowledge of Italian to take care of Italian customers and feeling pissed off all day because all I've got in my head is music and I can't wait to get home every evening to escape to my studio. We've got a branch in the US, the company's called Vecoplan LLC and they're based in North Carolina. I haven't had a live band now for the last 6 years and I have to admit, I don't really miss it. Doing my own stuff is so much more creative and fun. And then I get to do stuff with great musicians like you.......
Ah...Germany. That explains it. What do you do in Germany? Are you from there originally? I'm in the midwest (St. Louis, MO area) so I should be sleeping when you're at work--but I'm usually still up playing or doing freelance work. My day job is "media developer"--designing and building web content; a lot of semi-technical but a little audio & video, so hey, it could be worse...
    Joe,

Check your email. I sent you a mix of the lead break. Check it out and let me know what you think...

    Bob
    Oh man, that's great!

Just do what you feel like doing on it, even in the end with the adlibs. I imagined a duel giutar/vocals there, I'm sure you know what I mean. Can't wait to hear what you come up with!

    Cheers
    Joe
Just listened to it....oh yeah--count me in. I love it. Give me a couple days to shoot a track back to you.
Thanks man! I have less than 24 hours left and I'll be on a plane. This vacation went too quick. See you when I see you.

    Eddie
Beautiful. Ever since I heard those last couple of yours, I've been thinking that exact thing! I'll let you know!

    Bob
    Hey Rokket,
yeah, you're right...I should look here more often! Thanx for adding me as a friend!
    Cheers
    Joe
