    Mac interface selection

Do you really think the apogee is worth the money? It seems awfully expensive for 2 ins. I've never used apogee stuff before though. I've used a MOTU 828 with a PC laptop 6 or so years ago and had a lot of problems. I'm sure it was with the firewire card drivers though. -Jamie

    Mac interface selection

Hi All, I just got a new intel Mac and sold my Tascam 2488 because I found it a pain to import to computer for editing along with other minor complaints. I want to record direct to computer now and most people suggest MOTU for Mac. However, a couple friends of mine that do a lot of recording...

    GRRRR! soundcards

there's about a hundred threads talking about different firewire or USB interfaces on this board. You should check one of them. I've used a MOTU 828 but they are old school now.

The 99¢ K-Micro condenser mic. Yep, 99 cents.

Let us know if you guys actually ever receive the mics in the mail. Then I'll order a few.

    GRRRR! soundcards

get a firewire card for your PC, put it in. Sell or return the device that won't fit and get a firewire interface. Most of the cards are nice and small and come with a lot of firewire ports.

    Intel Core Duo

So, I'm in the market for a new laptop for musicmaking and my college lectures. Anyway, at work I have a desktop that is probably 1.5 years old and has a 2.7GHZ Pentium 4 processor. Does anybody know how the new intel core duo processors compare? I'm not sure whether to get a 1.8ghz core duo...

    PC or Mac for recording?

When we were in high school my friend asked this really hot French foreign exchange student if she liked Mac or PC. We quickly slapped him upside the head. :D

    Thom Yorke's Laptop/recording setup

Thanks!! Good to know. Of course, I'm a big radiohead fan as well.

    Thom Yorke's Laptop/recording setup

he mentions pro-tools a lot in some interviews but I'm still not sure what he uses on his personal setup.

    Thom Yorke's Laptop/recording setup

So, I guess Thom Yorke has been doing a lot of his solo work and radiohead songwriting with a laptop. Any idea what kind of setup he uses? I googled it and couldn't really find much.

    Roland vs. Tascam

are these files usually time stamped so they synch up when you open them up in a multitrack program?

    Roland vs. Tascam

That is excellent since I use Sonar to do editing most of the time anyway. Its too bad that the Tascam doesn't record more tracks at once with all those recordable tracks it would be great if you could record 10, 12, or 16 tracks at once. That'll probably come out next year.....although some...

    Roland vs. Tascam

I'll have to take a closer look at the Yamaha units. I'm not as familiar with them.

    Roland vs. Tascam

I'm currently considering the three standalone studios the Roland VS 2000, Korg 16XD, or the Tascam 2488. I know the specs of each unit but I'm wondering about the companies. Has Roland been more reliable than tascam? Which ones have better user support? It seems to me as if the Roland and...

listen to this recording i did

I think for a first recording attempt of a whole band it is great. I have to admit the vocals are quite cheesy sounding. What did you use for recording? I think the mixing of the drums and vox could use a little improvement but it definitely sounds a lot better than some of my attempts at...
