L2 cache size on processor, does it matter for DAW?

Most DAW users use regular P4 over Celeron, because it's L2 cache size. Does it realy matter for DAW? I'm about to build new PC, and the guy on the store effers me options P4 with 512k L2 cache, or 1MB L2 cache. I know, the bigger=the better. But why? What good does it do for DAW applications...

    Sennheiser Blackfire 509 Qs...

Recently I got this mic from a friend who closed his studio and moved. He alows me to test it for about a week before I buy it. It's Sennheiser Blackfire 509. He told me he never made a good use of it because it sounds weak. Tought he never use phantom power on it (cause he doesn't have one) he...

Lace sensor Gold on the bridge position...

...one of my "clean" axe is Fender custom with only two single coil slot without pickguard. I used to have the original stratocaster pickup on the bridge, and Lace sensor Gold on the neck position. Short story, one day I fall in love with Fender Custom 69 single coil pickup. So I bought it to...

    Acoustic sound from electric guitar...

Guys, I'm thinking of getting acoustic guitar sound out of my electric guitar (Fender Strat model). I know the best way to get acoustic sound is to play real acoustic guitar, but it's not actualy easy to switch between both acoustic and electric guitars on stage. So, any trick would be...

Mic for field recording (Movie project)...

Usualy, I'm hired to do movie scoring and background music/FX on post production. Recording on location has not been my field (I don't have proper equipment anyway). But now, due to many reason, the next project urges me to do audio capturing on location. I've tried all my studio mic, and you...

Any cakewalk user with controler surface?

I'm sick of mouse clicking all over stage. Thinking of Tascam US-428. Any user? Comment? Said it's AD/DA can operate in 24bit, how about it's samplerate? Can it handle 48kHz? How about US-224? Other brands? Comment? Thanks!!! :) ;) Jaymz

This corner, that angle... any general hints?

Here's a simple layout of my home studio (I call it "audio rooms" since I'm doing MIDI stuff in another room). I didn't have any problem working there (or too lazy to even think about it :D ) However, I realize there's something un-propher with these room, specialy the control/mixing room. Red...

DIY cutting the rubber foam. How?

    Ugh... No Auralex dealers around my country. I have only access to the "regular" foam. So I bought 3 inches plain shaped foam. However, I need to cut them to shape 'em as difussor. you know... /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ / \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/...

What was the name of the mixer again?

...I forget the name... it's the old old Alesis mixer. It came up with: 16 channels each with mic preamp 8 direct outs plenty of send/return knobs on each channels (i don't quite remember how many, but more than average 16 ch types) can be put on the desktop, or stacked on the rack mount (about...
