I am using a MOTU 8Pre to record a full band using Logic pro 9. I use Logic's software mixer but I'm not very sure about the method to use to get the best signal, avoid his and clipping etc. How do you set your recording volumes?
I read that the recording signal on the software mixer should...
Just found out I can skip getting a mixer by using CueMix, which comes with MOTU and which I do not have. (lost the Inistall CD).
Can I skip getting a mixer by using LOGIC 9 to send Headphone monitoring mixes?
Well I guess I am looking for something prices under $500. Maybe I should look in the the Behri's, and yes...I know, they get bad reviews. My other choice is to check out Ebay for some used gear.
I am recording a full band, 13 Inputs (need at least 10 XLRs), through a MOTU 8PRE (8 xlr inputs) + Behri ada8000 (8 extra xlr inputs), firewired into Logic 9.
I need to be able to send 4 separate headphone mixes, as well as just a PA mix for when we rehearse.
This is where you can feel free...
Cool! got it to work together!
Just used one cable, with ADAT OUT from Behri set as Master, and ADAT IN the MOTU 8pre.
For some reason the first mic input channel on the Behri is not Channel number 9, but Channel no 11! So it goes 1-8 on the 8pre and 11 to 19 on the Behri.
I just called MOTU who are actually 10mns away from where I live here in Cambridge MA, they do not have the manual in .pdf version, so they want me to pay $20 + shipping for sending it to me by mail
OK, so I'll have one ADAT cable going from the Behri OUT to the 8pre IN, and another ADAT cable going from the 8pre OUT to the Behri IN. Is that correct? I'll have to purchase another cable from amazon..
I wish I had the manual to know what you are talking about.
-Is there a way to turn on the ADAT? I just pluged it in and LOGIC does see all 8 additional channels.
-How do I slave the 8 pre's clock to the Behringer?
-When you say you need to always run the signal to the first ADAT input, you...
I've been running an 8pre on Logic Pro 8 via Firewire, Mac OSX 10.6.1, and just bought a Behringer ada8000 that I've connected via ADAT.
logic sees all 8 mic input from the MOTU 8pre as well as all the 8 inputs from the Behringer. I am getting a signal on the behringer so I know my mic cable is...
I decided to go with a MOTU 8pre and a Behringer ADA8000 via ADAT, giving me 16 mic inputs. Reason I didn't go with the Mackie is that their customer service sucks from what I've been reading and their support for drivers is even worse.
Thanks all for the valuable info.
The n12 ony has 8 mic inputs? Which I already had on my firepod before I sold it. I'm realy looking for 9 mics for drums, a mic for guitar, a mic for bass and a mic input for voice which brings my needs to 12 mic inputs. Besides, correct me if I am wrong but the n12 does not have Adat to...
This is the peice of information I was looking for. i have to look into the 8pre's software mixers and how I would set it up to send a signal to the PA. I just lost a bid on ebay on an onyx 1640 + firewire card that went for $960. I guess that's good because I'll go the cheaper route: 8pre...
