My Studio

Here's what I've built the over the last 4 years. The mixer rests comfortably on an a 2'x4' piece of MDF atop a keyboard stand. The monitors on, yes, a bookshelf on it's side. My rack effects are, in fact mounted to a similar, smaller shelf which resides faithfully on a Wal-Mart TV stand. All this crammed into my 11'x14' loft.

Function before fashion, right?

I've ordered a rack mounted server case & Radeon 7000 dual display AGP video card (nothing special), A Behringer V-Amp Pro w/FCB-1010 MIDI foot controller, an HA8000 headphone amp & patchbay; 2 more flat displays will have to wait a while, but then I'll have a 3-screen display!

The pics are on my myspace page for my band. I'm glad to answer any questions on the setup as well.

Hi, new here!
I'm planning on building a custom desk to fit all the gear:

Len David
The Netherlands

I'm not sure I'd do the monitors in the desk like that. Plus there's a little ledge that protrudes out a little bit over the speakers...

Might want to read up on acoustics.

thanks for the reply, I will do that.
I just designed it to look cool at first. Now I will read up on acoustics and modify my design

Ordering one of these from Argosy past the weekend. Comes by airfreight. Will post some pictures when I have it up and running. Just wanted to chime in a link as I really think they got great consoles.

Thanks, I did cut the foam with a metal ruler and really new cuter, You need a new one that is really sharp for this pourpose. I had to buy ten new blades, and change them after every new cut

Here's mine

I just wanted to share some pics of my studio with you guys. I often drool over pics of yours so its my turn to try to make you salivate :)

I finally got the time to put together some sound absorbers to control my room. So far they've been doing a pretty good job. I think i've done a decent job of positioning them but if there's any suggestions, i'm all ears

Nice setup! Looks to me like your week point is the monitor set up, but not knowing what your monitors are who am I to say. Speakers look set pretty tight together and some mo-pads might be in order.

What are those? Proto-j's?

F.S.

they're Yorkville YSM1s. They are a little tight but i find that with the right angle and me sitting far away enough from them i can find their sweet spot. Eventually i plan on moving outta here and getting a real control room so i can position them a little better. The desk i have now is pretty limiting
