Zoom H4n and upright piano

I've got a H4n and want to record an upright. Tried from behind the player, but got too much room sound, put it between the wall and the piano pointed down the back, this seemed to work, but is there a best way to record an upright?

As well, are there good settings for recording an upright piano? Compression, limiter, low-cut? Or is best to record with nothing and add later?

Try over the players head pointed towards the string. Open the lid and even take the front panel off to get more detail.

What he said. Put the H4n above, looking down at the soundboard. It helps if you have the remote control card.-Richie
