XXX MB Free??

I'm sure everyone's had Cool Edit tell them to free up some harddrive space... and normally, doing that works. But recently, it's been acting really strange. I have 5+ gigs available on my harddrive.. but cool edit's status bar only shows 467 megs free.

I've emptied my recycling bin, cleared out my temporary folder, scandisked, and rebooted several times. It's still showing about 5.1 gigs less than what I actually have free. Has anyone had this problem?
 
and when you have recorded more than 467 meg audio, does it stop recording?
else, it just a program error without any real negative effect.
 
No, I don't have a drive partition, and I don't record 467 megs of audio. I'm trying to solve this problem before I record again, because I don't wanna lose something important. When I perform too many processes though, something pops up saying I don't have enough memory to complete the operation, so I have to "cancel last operation."
