I have a Xonar Essence STX card which, unfortunately, is not suitable for pro-grade recording. So... what do I need to power studio quality mics? A cheap mixer or USB audio interface with preamp? Which one is a better and cheaper choice? Because all I'm gonna record is vocals to narrate some tutorial videos (those cheap computer mics produce disgusting results). I am willing to spend as little cash as possible to get the mics powered up. I'm a noob when it comes to recording, so please advise.
