X10R Reel Motor come to a near stop.

Hi. Im working on a Teac X10R and am having problems with the FF & RW. In both situations the motors dont seem to want to finish the job, they get close to the end and just about stop. The machine is in really good condition apart from that, im thinging maybe a rebuild for both motors. Any ideas would be greatly recieved. Cheers.

Are you testing it with an older tape that is possibly affected by sticky shed syndrome that's adding resistance that wouldn't be there with a fresh, new tape.

If you have a new tape to try it with, do that first before you assume the worst.

Yes Ghost you were 100% right. I put a new tape on the machine and i did a wonderfull job, the tape i was using was not sticky but did have a fair bit of age about it so its in the bin already. Thanx for your help. Cheers Dave.
