Would these be an effective diffuser?

Would these cardboard packing inserts be effective as diffusers?

I mean many of them assembled together, not just this one example.

If not, why not?

It looks a little like a skyline diffuser, but those have a mathematically specific arrangement that diffuses optimally for the given size. All the tops of the blocks on that insert are at the same height, which is not how a skyline diffuser is made. Maybe it will help, maybe not, but it won't be as good as a skyline.

Here's a page with pics of a real diffuser and a chart on how to DIY them.

I also replied to your post on GS. Here is a copy:

Do they come with testing data?

I live in Indonesia and here, if it looks real good, people will buy it. It can be full of sand (cell phones) or made of mud (houses), but as long as it LOOKS like it might work or be good, as far as they are concerned, it IS.

I would recommend that you not waste time on them unless you can test them. Those things are probably about as good as egg cartons - which, by the way, are very good - at holding eggs.

So, my answer to your question would be: I have NO idea.
Test it. If it works, fine. But I seriously doubt that it would be worth your time.

Cheers,
John
