Windows "Recording Control"

When I have the recording control open, it's default "checked" input is the mic. I want it to be line in, so I check it everytime I start recording. On my old machine (ME) it would stay checked until I reset the computer. On my new one (XP) I set it, switch to Cakewalk and it's fine. Then if I switch to any other window (Fruity Loops, IE, etc...) the selected input switches back to mic. GRRR!! Can I save the setting (line in selected)?
 
It should stay at what you set it to. You don't need to "save" it. Sounds to me like something is resetting it on you.

What sound card are you using? Did it come with its own mixer? If so, try using that to set the recording input rather than the Windows mixer.
