Unfortunately, you won't be producing hydrogen, you'll be sucking up all the hydrogen to create helium, which will be a boon to the balloon industry. Dirigibles will take the place of planes as the "green" alternative for air travel!
I believe people like David Attenborough and I keep up as best I can with New Scientist. I am NO vegan! Used hunt rabbits, but I have cut down drastically on beef products from Argentina et al. No, farmers do NOT deserve a bad press at least in UK they are trying very hard to get ever 'greener'.You may not be aware on how all this will explode next year. You will see established car manufacturers going to the wall and Tesla and a host of Chinese companies taking over as they all plan to sell to the world after xmas such is the demand for EV.
And thats it.........the demand. People will buy these things but the supply of electricity cannot keep up. It will be quite interesting.
Dont believe the hype about less meat. Farmers actually absorb co2 and produce oxygen. Townies just produce the problems. But its ok to blame the farmers whose only crime is to produce food for........you!!

Wind? UK is perhaps unique? We have 'weather' circling us all the time. rarely is the North sea dead calm all over.
Rice paddy fields produce at least as much Methane as all the ungulates in the world. Yes, this is a hugely complex problem but the politicians around the world will not tell the real truth...We all have to 'do' a lot less. Problem is, those that want to keep doing 'a lot' are the ones with the money and power.

No Sir. Only one atom of H2 is Deuterium or Tritium out of over 6000 molecules which are needed for fusion (H1 is thermodynamically a no go I understand) So , after processing you are left with tons of Hydrogen which you can burn. Shoot! You could power the whole fusion infrastructure with an H2 powered plant! I think you get a shitload of desalinated seawater out of it as well?
An analogy is extracting Uranium from coal? Tiny bit of U2 but you still have the coal!

I am a city man but know an aweful lot about farming. Farmers activity is solely to produce food for others end of. The farmers activity is solely the activity of townies and city folk.

BTW, you can create D from neutron bombardment. Light water is a neutron moderator in nuclear reactors with a realitively high capture ratio. The byproduct is gamma radiation rather than heat release, which is why heavy water is preferred.
Frankly, I don't expect to see any fusion reactors before I pass on to greener pastures.

It is the madly consuming 'west' that is the problem. A north American is on average 30 times more of a problem than someone in a village in India. China is putting out so much CO2 because of western consumers. Europeans are little better than the US.
If you are dirt poor and have no social system to support you in old age or illness you have to rely on your family and since the infant mortality rate is so high in those countries the birth rate has to be high. Several studies have shown that as people get even a little bit richer and secure and MOST importantly, the GIRLS get educated, the birth rate falls.
The problem is we can only cut consumption in the rich countries AND help the poorer ones if the very, very rich take less from the environment.
I am not that political and in any case to solve the planet's problems will need (AFAICS) a whole new politico-economic ideology and I cannot see that happening.
BTW, I only have one car, a 2008 Renault and would have an EV in a trice but I cannot afford one. I do less than 2000 miles a year and only go out for shopping and very rare 5 mile trip to my daughter. Peeps are worried about "range anxiety" ? No bother to me. 100 miles? Plenty.

Yes, yes I know about the He! But you cannot burn that. My point is, as they strive for fusion (and I am a little more optimistic than thou) lots of Hydrogen will be produced. Hydrogen is NOT the answer it is often touted to be since only some 5% of it is produced by totally 'green' energy.
And sorry Fiona but I am on a roll here! If you are in or near UK I will send you a spare mic cable as recompense!

I dont know where you get your info Dave but it is well out of date. For instance the biggest ownership of EV cars is in China. Lots of countries now have UK style of living and purchasing power of goods.

My information comes mainly from the BBC and N Scientist. The current issue is about the Amazon rain forest which is less than a decade away from 'tipping over' into dry savanna and becoming a vast Carbon emitter. Main reason is de forestation for cattle and Soya production. The profits of which industries do not not benefit the local 'farmers' but actually leave the continent to multi nationals. A lot of money of course lands up in the pockets of corrupt politicians who are ALREADY breaking the promises they made in Glasgow.
Yes, there are a lot of people in the world but we could easily feed them and more if every one of us gave up one meal a week.
The climate scientists know pretty much how to solve the problems but getting the Money Men to agree is just about impossible.

As regards your multinationals ripping up the Amazon for beef. Well they would only do it if they can make money and they make money by producing beef for........ wait for it........people. Yes lots of people who want to eat beef instead of Brazil nuts. If they wanted to eat Brazil nuts then no doubt those capitalist Multi-nationals would be planting Brazil nut trees everywhere.
Giving up meals is a nice idea. But really if someone asked me to give up a meal so someone else can eat my answer would be unprintable here.

Tidal turbines off shore, and solar with battery backup will do it. Infra-red heaters. Geo systems. Renewables.
New electric cars and the removal of coal/gasoline/petrols will solve a lot. E bikes, E cars, charging stations. Its all there .Waiting to be implemented.

I don't care how much money people have but I do care how they got it and in today's world to use your personal billions to build a spaceship is obscene beyond sensibility. I am in total favour of space exploration but by governments funding scientific bodies.
This forum is about music an art form I am passionate about . I am in fact keen on all the arts but I confess not "passionate " about them but then I probably don't have the capacity to learn about them (I know FA about music really!) These are the things that make us human. Science is another. What better way to spend our time than trying to find out bloody everything!

I have followed environmental stuff since I was a teen. What I have seen of late in the past 20 years is there has to be someone to blame. Everyone or anyone except ourselves.
