Which box?

Hello all, I'm looking for a little insight on what I should buy for my application.

I'm looking to set up a DAW station, but I'm stuck on 1 thing. Vocals, Guitars, Bass, that can all be done on 1 channel, layer on layer... But I am concerned about the drums.

I've got a 6pce set with a few cymbals, and I'm concerned on how to mic it. Can I get away with 4 channels (like my budget allows), or should I break the bank and go with 8?

I'd like to get a nice, crisp sound from the kit, but I fear it's just too big for 4 mics... Any suggestions from guys who know more about micing a drum kit than me?

4 mics would do the job but of course the more mics the better. You may find more in depth answers if you move this to the percussion forum.
