When mixing analog to DAT, 48k or 41k?

I have a Fostex FD-8. When mixing to DAT, what do you think is best between the following options: 1. Mixing digitally with the light pipe at 41k? 2. Mixing analog at 48k. Does mixing in the analog mode help to "warm it up" any? Of course with the first option, I can dump to CD and stay in digital domain. With option 2, I would have to go from DAT to CD in analog domain again. Am I in left of left field to think of leaving the digital domain?

This will seem a tad obvious, but I'd do each and see which one sounds better to you.

Even if you're recording at 96, your CD is still 44.1.

The bottom line should always be "which sounds best to you?". It's your baby! That's the beauty of this stuff.

P.S. If they both sound exactly the same, the next question is "which one is easier"? ;)
