2 channel pre amp in my price range
100-300
for decent overheads mics and others.

ive got a 1010 and a mackie vlz 1402 (6 outs) and need 2 more to fill up the Delta 1010.
 
My M-Audio DMP-3 never dissappoints. Simple, clean, two channels, nice gain enough to drive a ribbon, 48 Volt phantom and right in your budget :D

There are others but I've got first hand with this one and like it very much. I've used it often for OH and acoustic guitar.

Tell us what you go with...k?
 
Off the subject but 8th Note... man that freakin smokin bizarre ass rockin tune Innocence was killer, just my speed - loved it.
 
I don't think (for overheads especially) for that price range you are going to find anything that will BLOW AWAY the VLZ preamps in your Mackie. If I were you, I would get by with the Mackie's for now while saving up for a better preamp.

EDIT: I just went back and read your post again about needeing 2 more channels ... kinda makes my point irrelevant
