What sets a dedicated hardware sampler away from software samplers such as fruity loops? I use a software program (that you probably havent heard of, but it works great for me) and I think my beats sound pretty hot. After all, its the quality of the samples you use that determine the sound quality of your track, right?

Where can I hear your material?

Quality is very important.

But the difference its the natural swing of the sequencer.... The way it quantizes. It basically has it own ambience...
Its also a drum machine...
It made specifically reack as such...

Also I am sure you heard of the S950...
This unit has a distinct sound that has become a standard in hiphop...

These are the issues you run into in trying make the transition to the Software based sampler...

Ofcourse if you sit down and learn how to tweak the software based sampler you can most likely get the results you seek...

This is why I am lookin into the option...

If for nothing else it could be another 'sound' ...... And you neva no what beats an individual might like...

How is fruity loops anyway?

well

The only thing i have for you to listen to on the web is R&B, not rap, but you are welcome check it out.

I use a very powerful program called Buzz.

I'm not too excited about fruity loops. Fruity loops looks nice, but I'm not impressed by the sound. In other words, "She's pretty, but she can't dance." Reason seems pretty powerful, but is way overpriced, and is totally geared toward electronica.

Buzz is a little harder to learn, but is better in many, many ways.

Well, thats my 2 cents, maybe some people who make their beats on actual hardware drum machines could post some links so we could all compare.

I will listen to it when I get home....

As for some hardware based sampler beats chek me out at:

Check out 'In the Rat Cavern' .....

Reason can probably with time be tweaked...

Thanks for the info...

Hey cloudychamber buzz :-)D),

I just downloaded Buzz and it's kinda weird. Where are the pattern so I can set my kicks, my hihats, my snares?!

FruityLoops' a lot easier...

Peace,
Beathoven

fruity loops may be easier but I've yet to hear a fruity track that sounds close to cloud's track. I'm gonna try this "buzz" thing you speak of.

Even though I'm a dedicated MPC 3000 user, I think it's good that we all have different methods of achieving the same goal - making music.

The program should have come with a tutorial song that will walk you step by step through the process. If you are still having trouble, go to www.buzzmachines.com and there is a whole community of people using the program with a bunch of tutorials. If you have any specific questions, email me at mdneale2002@yahoo.com.

Peace,

Matt
