I have a couple of very old mics, Shure PE50SPs. Just trying to find out if anybody can tell me anything about them. According to the Shure web site they are circa 1978.
Thanks, Track RAt, I saw that earlier, but I was hoping somebody who has one of there or has used one could tell me more about it. I'm not real confident in my ability to judge quality of mics and I just wanted to hear an opinion on how good, or not, these are.
I use it on my 1/2 stack once in a while. But with all mics... you have to find where it works or doesn't work for you. I've recorded several albums with this mic.
I was guessing they were older cousins of the 58. We have two and they're both still perfectly usable, but I think my voice could use something a bit brighter. But I haven't yet figured out how to do a good comparison between new stuff in stores and my antiques. The two biggest stores around here don't take returns on mics. If anybody has any "how to" tips on testing mics, I'd love to hear it.
