What to do with the 1st track when you record the 2nd one?

Hey, guys! I eventually managed to record my first track, and attempted to record my second:) It felt good! My question is, what do I do after I recorded the guitar on the first track? Do I let it play, and try to record the vocals on the second track? Will you be able to hear that sound in the mike and on the vocals track? So for a dummy, what buttons would you have to press after you saved and recorded your first track to record on the second track in Reaper? Thank you!
 
To record second track (e.g. vocal):

Insert new track. Arm this track for recording

Plug your headphones into the interface. Make sure the input/playback knob is about halfway.

Go to the start of the song.

Hit record

You should hear your guitar in the phones, as well as your mike.

Gecko, as always, thank you, mate! I was using the monitors, like a tard. I`ll give it a try right now. Thanks againg.
 
Oh, and the first track needs to be unarmed. I forgot to do that, and I deleted the first track while I was recorded the first one!
