Hi everyone !

I am a DJ and a musician 4 years DJ'ing \ 15 years guitar...

I am now finally ( should have done this sooner really ! ) going to build my own home recording studio. What i would like to know first is what equipment would people recomend for the type of music i wish to write.

The styles of music will be ambient \ chill out \ trance \ House - mainly dance music.

What rackmount synths \ modules will give me the best dance sounds around? vintage synths and new also do you recomend a controller keyboard and modules or a mixture of both ?

Basically whats the best stuff on the market old or new for the type of music i want to write..

I plan to not gig the equipment and i am going to use Cubase PC.

just getting answers bit by bit first so help really appreciated..

Your question is very broad, narrow it down. There are hundreds of products on each category and too bad most of them are good in quality at their price range. So break it down and ask teh same question in each resp forums. For example Go to the Mic forum and ask about the choices you selected and ask others opinion, same with signal processors in rack forum. You will get more response then. Good Luck.
