What does the term A/B a track mean?

When mastering, what does to A/B a track mean?

I believe it is basically comparing 2 different settings. One may be the default and the other may be one where you made an adjustment. You can click back and forth and compare them. I'm kinda new to this so i may not be correct !!

That's pretty much it. Its just comparing two different settings.

You have to AB before it goes to CD.

Yeah its basically to compare A to B, where A and B can be settings on a plugin, same song before and after processing or even two different songs. The important part of AB testing is that you can switch back and forth from A to B instantly, with a single click, so that you can compare them without any distraction in between. Setting up your DAW to make AB tests can be very helpful to get good results sometimes.

...and if something is not working, you may have to adjust XYZ.
