I have been thinking of buying a new mixer. My problem is that I don’t really understand them at all!
I have been recording with one ADAT and a Behringer 1604a. I use the main stereo outs to record (and monitoring on ALT 3-4), but I am sick of creating stereo mixdowns each time I record… so to speak. I can only record 2 tracks at once with my mixer. It would be nice to record on each separate track; maybe even all at once. I would be pleased with recording on 4 tracks at once, but 8 would be even better. I was reading some technical notes on a Allen Heath mixer that was $1,000: it said each channel has an individual out. That’s the kind of thing I want.
So, how do I find a mixer that will do this? And, how much do they cost? 4 mono tracks if fine with me (more if possible), just need 4 stereo pairs to return. I’d like to buy a Soundcraft if possible; or something around $300-700 and not Behringer.
Oh, yeah. What does ‘bus’ mean in audio?
