Case Lian-Li black aluminum or Enlight rackmount (i want to rack it)

On pricewatch.com, I can get everything for $1580. Would cost me $2500 for the same machine at musicalcomputers.com. My main questions are, how do I tweak XP to work with everything, and what size rack case should I be getting?

Right now I have a Delta66 that I will use with it until i get a Layla24 (do you have better suggestions?). I plan to use programs such as Acid, Vegas, Goldwave, Reason, and Waves. I'm open to all suggestions....

you may need a 4U rack case. BUT be reaaaaaally carefull my friend, rack case generally come with 120mm NOISY fans. I'm not kidding, I have one here, in the closet, for sale. I bought it, tried it, I've looked for quieter fans, then I repack the case in its box and I try to sell it.

...be careful!!

Looks good. What all are you trying to do with this machine though? Are you planning on running alot of effects. If so, how many, and what kind?

Thats a nice computer and everything but it might be overkill i think.

Yes... i will do multitracking, producing, sequencing, editing, everything on here. I'll use waves and directx plugins...whatever will work in vegas. I was also thinking about getting one of those processor cards that go in the computer (future). Why you think it will be overkill?

There are a lot of posts on the subject of tweaking XP on this site, (just need to do a few creative searches.. it's hard because 'XP' is too smalll a keyword!) ;-(

I too just started playing with XP (still have Win98SE on another drive just in case).

Anyhow, I can't say much about recording performance, but the tweaks I've done so far have improved general boot-up and system performance (mainly just removing all the unnecessary graphics "cartoon" stuff)

This seems to be the main article most people reference (from Tascam):
