Wax Cylinders?

Just wondering, is anyone still using wax cylinders for their recording medium? At home or otherwise? What kind of properties do you get, are there any good wax saturations? And is there a plugin to emulate that? Thanks!

Wax cylinders are too modern for a truly warm sound.
Try carving waveforms on a stone tablets with a hammer and chisel for real rock sounds...

I record with wax at a room temperature of 62-64 F and crank the heat during mastering. This method was common during the loudness wars of the late 1890s.

actually, all joking aside, there are people still into recording on wax cylinders.........
i will have to look but i just saw a book for sale the other day that was supposed to have plans on building wax cylinder type equipment.......seems it is somewhat popular with home machinest set.........
