I recently upgraded from Sonar 4 to 7. Everything went smoothly except that a week or so later I found that my saved plugin presets had been erased. I'd built up a collection over several years that served as quick settings, or at least good starting points. Fortunately I was able to find a backup that included them. Here's where mine were:
C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Plugins\
The .ini files have the data. Back up that the .ini files in that folder before an upgrade. I simply copied the files back (w/Sonar closed) and everything was restored.
Either I missed a chance to back these up in the installation, or they just overwrote them without asking.
Not alot of great differences. I also had to update my video drivers to make playback look right.
