Say I have(actualy it`s this townhouse I`m trying to buy)a basement in an end level townhouse and I want to build a studio.The room I want to use is about 16 by 22,I have mainly a production studio with the likes of beat machines keyboards and things like that.Should I (and this is what I`m thinking)put insulation on the wall then build another wall out of hardwood over that then about 4 or 5 layers of carpet along with bass traps over that?Do you think that would be suficent or am I missing something?I just want to make the room dead,and have it so that instead of actualy building a mic booth I can just get in a corner and record vocals.Tell me what I forgot please.

I don't think you don't need all that just to deaden the room. Maybe in your vocal corner, But if your worried about soundproofing do what you said but leave dead airspace between the two walls. Check this out:
