VST vs. DX

I'm curious if there is a definative answer or any strong opinions out there about the CPU intensity of the same plugin ran in VST versus in DirectX. I haven't ran any tests, personally; also, no good posts or articles I've found, yet. I'd imagine there's variability between plugins (if any), and no straight-forward answer. Thoughts please.

I really didn't think anyone would comment on there being a difference. I just figured it was possible one could possibly be more efficient than the other. Anyway, thought I'd explore a different avenue for improving CPU load further. Thanks for input.

UAD are ditching the DX format and going with VST for their plugs. Don't know why. It's a bummer actually, as the VST wrapper doesn't play nicely with Cakewalk s/w, so I have to use the old DX drivers
