Vocals

I have noticed that there is a very common way of editing vocals, especially in hip hip.

I mostly hear it in choruses, like "Elevator" by Eminem. (I heard Tech N9ne use it many times too)
There's this sourd of a higher and lower sound at the same time, and a bassline or w/e I can't understand what do they do to make it sound this way..


Any advice?

Double tracking. One part high the other low.

high what? pitch? I tried but it doesn't work for me... and plus there should be a non pitched part too no?

Post a sample of what it is you are talking about. That might help to see what it is you are trying to achieve.

Nix that last post. It is obvious in the Eminem clip that there are two vocal parts. Is there something else you are looking for?

The vocals are recorded (at least) twice, but each part an octave apart.
