Does anyone use something other than Antares? It's quite expensive and I wanted to make sure that it was the best choice.

Are you looking for effects or tuning?
Personally, I prefer Melodyne way over Autotune. You can either get a completely natural sound, or a more robotic, autotuney sound.
I fix vocals all the time and the artist has no clue I did it, they just know it sounds way better.
But it you want to get more effects, there are a ton of things you can do with Melodyne, adding depth, realistic sounding harmonies, even that Autotune sound.
Watch some of Pensado's Place, his videos about melodyne. He does some pretty cool tricks with it.
Anyhow, that would be my suggestion.
I own both, and hardly ever use Autotune. Only if I am looking for something very specific with the vocals.
