Vocal booth = sit in the corner

We are trying to find the best place available to record vocals. We've come up with an isolated corner of our practice room that we will treat with OC 703 and then hang a curtain a few feet out which will be behind the singer. A couple of questions: Does this sound like a logical idea? How far from the corner should the mic be placed (ADK Hamburg)? Any ideas or tips you may have?

Thanks!

If the singer faces into the corner you probably won't even need the curtain. Also, just to clarify, small rooms do indeed sound bad. But a curtain does not reflect the same as a wall, so a curtain won't sound bad like a wall would.

I'd stand with my back in the corner singing out towards the middle of the room with a blanket in front of the mic. That should give you the least reflections and room sound.
