Finished the mod and checked it against an unmodded unit. Less noise/hiss, a tad bit more top/high end on vocals, bass and drums sounded better, richer(?). Total parts cost with tubes and shipping was about $65. It was a slight pain doing the mod due to the tight component spacing on the PCB's and the small traces made d-soldering tricky, even with a Weller d-soldering station.
