Vibrato went out of style when auto-tune became the norm. Only because it's harder to make convincing vibrato while tuning a vocal.

It's a style thing. If using vibrato is part of your style, classic metal has a lot if it, then go ahead. Be yourself and do what you think siunds good.
 
Dio was great at it. Some of the Dokken material has a good amount of it going in. iron Maiden too. Drama has always been part of Classic Metal and it's a technique that helps to emphasise that. It does make auto-pitch correction difficult but manual correction software allows you to leave it in.
