VF160 Low EQ alternative?

We all know how inadequate the low EQ is on the VF160. I have an older version (about 12 years old) Peavey 31 band EQ. Its basically never been used so its in perfect condition. Question....would it be beneficial to use this to EQ everything or only the lows? Would it introduce noise? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you use it only to boost/cut the lows below 400hz, then it should not get noise. I would only use the eq for the lows. Then when you get it into the record, you can add the other eq there., what i'm going to start doing (when my computer/software get's here) i'll start record every thing into the record dry and then send it all to the computer and add eq and effects there.

Low EQ

Thanks Zeke. I always record everything dry. I wondered if using an outboard EQ like what I have would actually be a help or not when mixing. I think you answered my question. Much appreciated.
