Hi.

i would like to upgrade my VF-16 internal harddisk.
are there any limits in using another hdisk?
can I use for instance any EIDE 7200RPM hdisk.

...any recommendation on brands of disks?

cheers.

Hard Disk Choices

I was under the impression that any of the Quantum "Fireball Plus" high speed drives were compatible. I got this information from the Fostex website...10.2gig,15gig,20.4gig,30gig

VF16/VF08 HDD

Hi Tom,

Pouxhawk is right about the Quantum drives.
Here's a list I got off Fostex Japan's site:

Quantum:
Fireball Plus LM (High speed type, 10.2/15./20.4/30GB)
Fireball Ict 15 (Normal speed type, 7.5/15/20/30GB)
Fireball Ict 20 (Normal speed type, 10/20/30/40GB)

Fujitsu:
MPG3102AT-E (Normal speed type, 10.2GB)
MPG3204AT-E (Normal speed type, 20.4GB)
MPG3409AT-E (Normal speed type, 40.9GB)

I'm not 100% sure, but maybe someone can confirm this, I guess any 3.5 inch E-IDE drive would work. Or have I got that totally wrong...?

btw the list works for VF08's, too.

The VF16 and VF160 will read a maximum of 137 GB. You can put a bigger drive in but that limit will still apply. I am using an IDE/SATA bridge which works great(apart a few glitches) which allows the use of SATA drives and also SSD drives.
