Using samples / instruments?

Final question!

I'm trying to work out a way of using samples in Cakewalk (PA8). They come as instruments (.exs) or seperate files (.wav). I'd like to be able to use them to create tracks in a similar way to how you can with MIDI. I don't know if this is possible. Can anyone offer help? Thanks again :)
 
Yes it is possible .... Well ..... I'm not sure if CP8 supports VSTi's or DXi's though. Someone else will have to help with that.
If so then it's just a matter of get a decent VSTi or DXi (software synth) and loading the samples you want to use. Then you setup the MIDI output to point to that soft synth for the note/s playback.
 
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I have the technical IQ of a wombat, so I'm pretty lost here. I have something called Tassman, which seems to be a synth kinda thing, anywhere along the right line? Thanks :D
