using a second sound-card for my CD-rom?

I'm using a Layla soundcard for my audio interface. This card has no connection for my CD-rom. Is it possible to add a second sound card to my PC dedicated specifically for the audio out of CD-rom or will this cause confusion on my system?

You probably could add another soundcard with either no problems, or a trouble-shooting nightmare.

There is a way of playing CD's directly down the BUS but can't remember the program. AlChuck or Slackmaster mention it somewhere. This would eliminate the need for a second sound card.
