Upside Down?

One thing I can never work out is why when space ships meet in star track they are the same way up?

I think it has something to do with the dilithium crystals...they can only line up in one direction, so all the ships have orient along that same axis.



Though maybe they're all just playing to the same camera...

It started in the olden days of PVC diaphragms and vacuum tubes (OK- we still use tubes). The heat rising from the vacuum tube could warp the PVC diaphragm, so they hung it upside down. It does also make it easier to see something else that was used in olden times- written music.
