Two computers

Hi all

Which of the two computers below would you choose? The bottom one on costs about $300 more, but the top one has a slower processor, no onboard audio, it seems, and Intel integrated HD graphics, which I wonder if it is as good as the ATI Radeon. Other features seem similar, although you get more RAM with the top one , and from what I have learned on this forum, it is better to have an even number than an odd one. If you can spare a moment to have a look, I’ll be interested to hear what you think.

Cheers

whats it for

what is it for
going to use it for other things?
that will make a big difference

for audio i want
max ram
good fast cpu but ram more than cpu
dont need top of the line multicpu and speed unless you are doing some really high end work
good big fast hd
usb ports for back up hard disk attachments

and
as little of the other non audio stuff
not interested in firewire but you may want to consider it
but dont rule out usb2 which is adequate and usb3 blows them all away and is here now

do not want 7.1 or any internal sound card
get an external card

depending on your editing
you might want dual wide monitors ability

Thanks for that. So it sounds like number one would be the best choice for audio? More RAM, reasonable processor, no internal sound card... I'm not much interested in anything else. What about the intel integrated hd graphics? Is that OK? Thanks.

If you want a true recording powerhouse, save up for one of these:

http://www.izcorp.com/radar.php

I started recording on a computer, then went to analog for ease of use and getting things to sound right. With my RADAR, I've got almost the best of both worlds.

my other point

i dont like integrated graphics
i want a separate card with its own big ram that does not steal the main memory from me and the audio

why not consider one of the various audio_specific built machines that some audio dealers have and at least one company that only does pcs

The trick is to buy a RADAR II or RADAR 24, then rip out the analog-digital cards, send them to IZ Corp, and they'll upgrade you to a RADAR V for about $5k.

Either route very pretty expensive, but well worth it.
