Tube Preamps

Hey,
I've been looking at tube preamps like the Hafler T3, Tube Works RT-922, and the ADA MP-1. These seem to be going for fairly cheap on E-bay....
My question is, does anybody have any recomendations/critiques of the models above or other models. I'm looking for a fairly heavy distortion, boogie-ish, but not boogie.

The guitarist in a band I used to be in used an MP-1 with an early Ibanez 7-string (one of the Vai models) and he got a pretty crushing, no-mid sound. At the time, it was pretty unique, but nowadays, I don't know if those preamps will really cut it with the likes of a Boogie. Still, it's probably a great deal, and you can always buy one and resell it on ebay, lose maybe $50...
